Theo presented a talk on the importance of trust in regards to privacy and collaboration on the internet. He discussed the challenges of collaborative editing and the need for both open source software and end-to-end encryption to establish good trust assumptions. Theo also presented CriptPad, an online collaborative editing tool that utilizes end-to-end encryption. He discussed the limitations of peer-to-peer collaboration and the metadata still present in encrypted messages. Lastly, Theo mentioned that CriptPad collects as few information as possible about users to limit metadata.
